We’re excited to announce that on September 24th, Waves by Playground will be launching on DropZone!

Playground is a new experiential platform focused on generative works of art stored immutably on the Solana blockchain.

Their first drop, Waves, is generative artwork inspired by the fluidity of the crypto markets including: Bollinger Bands, wave theory, and moon math charts. Waves is a collection of one thousand uniquely generated artworks created using p5.js, embodying the full spectrum of emotions across the market cycles.

This article will cover two sections: 1) the DropZone launch on Raydium 2) Drop Box redemption for an NFT.

1. Waves DropZone launch:

DropZone Process Overview:

  1. When the DropZone pool opens, users deposit SOL to enter tickets in the lottery for an NFT allocation.
  2. Each winning ticket can claim a “Drop Box” token which represents one NFT allocation. Non-winning tickets claim back SOL.
  3. Each Drop Box token can then be redeemed on the project’s website to mint one original NFT from the project collection at random.

Playground’s Waves DropZone details

  • Total NFTs in collection: 1,000 uniquely generated Waves NFTs
  • Total Drop Boxes: 1,000 Drop Boxes, each redeemable to mint 1 NFT
  • Fixed NFT price: 3 SOL
  • Model: Lottery for allocation
  • Max tickets per user: 3 tickets (max deposit 9 SOL)
  • Allocation for winning ticket: 1 Drop Box
  • Total number of winning tickets: 1,000
  • Pool opens: September 24, 14:00 UTC
  • Pool closes: September 24, 14:05 UTC
  • Open period of the pool: 5 minutes

IMPORTANT: Drop Box redemption period and deadline

Drop Boxes MUST be redeemed on the Playground Waves website by September 26th 15:00 UTC approximately 48 hours after DropZone launch. After this time, redemption will be closed by the project and Drop Boxes will no longer be redeemable.

For questions on redemption, please check with Playground’s Discord community.

Eligibility and pool details:

There will be one SOL pool available for the Playground Waves drop.

  • Allocation will be determined by a lottery system.
  • Allocation for one winning lottery ticket: 1 Drop Box
  • Deposits will be capped at 9 SOL per user, equal to 3 tickets
  • The pool will be open for 5 minutes
  • There are no RAY staking requirements for the Playground Waves drop

How does it work?

Tickets: Users are eligible for 3 tickets maximum. However, for a ticket to be counted in the lottery, users must deposit SOL for each ticket they wish to have entered.

  • Example: All users can deposit 3 tickets worth of SOL. Alice deposits 9 SOL for 3 tickets. Bob deposits 3 SOL for 1 ticket.
  • Playground whitelist: Users on Playground’s early community whitelist will receive a higher probability to mint a Wave through an increased maximum lottery ticket allotment. Whitelisted users are eligible for up to 6 tickets per user. For whitelist questions please check with Playground’s Discord community or view their Substack article.

Deposit: When the pool opens, users will need to deposit 3 SOL for each ticket in order for it to be counted in the lottery. Users can choose to deposit less than their total ticket allocation (3 tickets), however tickets without a matching deposit will not be entered in the lottery. Deposits must be in multiples of 3 SOL.

  • Alice deposits 9 SOL, her maximum, to ensure that all 3 of her tickets are entered in the lottery. Bob deposits 3 SOL even though he has 3 tickets. In Bob’s case, only 1 ticket will be entered in the lottery.

Lottery: Once the pool closes, the lottery will take place and winning tickets will receive a Drop Box for 3 SOL, each. The Drop Box can be redeemed on the Playground Waves website for a random Waves NFT.

IMPORTANT: Drop Boxes must be redeemed on the Playground Waves website by September 26th 15:00 UTC. After this time, redemption will be closed by the project and Drop Boxes will no longer be redeemable.

  • Example: Alice has 2 winning tickets and will receive 2 Drop Boxes for 6 SOL. Bob does not have any winning tickets, better luck next time, Bob.

Claim: Once the lottery is complete users will be able to claim their SOL for any tickets that did not win as well as claim their Drop Boxes for winning tickets. Users can then redeem their Drop Box on the Playground Waves website (details below).

  • Example: Alice claims 3 SOL for her 1 non-winning ticket and Bob also claims his 3 SOL for his 1 non-winning ticket after the lottery concludes. Alice claims her 2 Drop Boxes from Raydium and can immediately redeem her 2 Drop Boxes on the Playground Waves website for 2 Waves NFTs or choose to trade her Drop Boxes and allow someone else to claim.

Lottery Transparency

The lottery will be done on-chain, with lottery numbers assigned to tickets in the order that users deposit in the pool. After the pool closes, winning numbers will be determined by hashing a block, multiplying it by the timestamp, and matching the last 2 digits of that number with user ticket numbers. Any ticket number with the last 2 digits matching is designated a winning ticket. This process will be repeated until all the winners are determined.

2. Drop Box redemption for a Playground Waves NFT:

  • After the DropZone lottery ends, users can claim their winning Drop Box.
  • Users can then navigate to the Playground Waves website and immediately redeem their Drop Box for one Waves NFT.
  • Drop Boxes must be redeemed on the Playground Waves website by September 26th 15:00 UTC. After this time, redemption will be closed by the project and Drop Boxes will no longer be redeemable.

Note: Drop Boxes are transferable and tradable prior to redemption, but they must be redeemed prior to September 26th 15:00 UTC.

For questions on redemption, please check with Playground’s Discord community.
